Boykin Spaniels are versatile, lively, smart, and loving dogs that make perfect companions for active, dedicated families. Here’s how you can keep your furry friend happy and healthy:
Daily Exercise:
Make sure they get plenty of physical activity to stay fit and burn off energy. Activities like hunting, swimming, hiking, or fetch are perfect for their adventurous spirit.
Balanced Diet:
Feed them high-quality food suited to their size and activity level. We highly recommend PMR (Prey Model Raw) diet.

Veterinary Care:
Regular vet visits are crucial to monitor their well-being and catch any potential health issues early.
Grooming:
Brush their coat regularly to keep it clean, minimize shedding and prevent matts from developing. Inspect their ears regularly as with any breed with long ears the limited air flow can sometimes cause wax and debris to build up and develop into an infection. They also love water, which again with limited air flow can trap extra moisture and debris, dry the ears after a day in the water. Start practicing nail trims early with a lot of positive reinforcement, because let's face it, they hate nail trims
Training:
These eager learners were bred to retrieve and flush birds. They love to work and respond well to training. Start early to build good habits.
Positive Crate Training:
Make their crate a cozy and enjoyable space.
Socialization:
Expose them to different environments, people, and pets from an early age to ensure they grow up well-adjusted.
Mental Stimulation:
Keep their sharp minds busy with puzzle toys, games, or new tricks.
